2/17/2018 0 Comments Parts and Functions of the NeuronNeurons are cells that make up a nerve. They send and receive electrical signals and neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are the brain chemicals that communicate information through out the body, and can affect your mood, sleep, concentration, and weight. The neuron is made up of the axon (which is covered in a fatty myelin sheath), dendrites, cell body, and the Synapse (or the gap). There are three types of neurons. Sensory neurons send messages from the body to the brain. Interneurons are located in the brain and spinal cord, and process information. Lastly, motor neurons send messages from the brain to the body.
